The TWEKO RKFS series paint-and-dry booth is an industrial solution with a retractable roof designed for preparation, painting and drying of large and heavy components. The movable roof section opens the working area from above, allowing products to be loaded vertically by overhead crane, gantry crane or mobile crane.
This configuration is particularly suitable for heavy and oversized products that are difficult to load through conventional doors. Top loading eliminates the need for a large manoeuvring area in front of the booth, transfer trolleys or rail systems and helps optimise the use of production floor space. The booth provides a complete process cycle including painting, purging, drying at temperatures up to 60 °C and cooling.
Applications
- Steel structures, beams and trusses
- Masts, supports, tanks and vessels
- Trailer frames and platforms
- Special-purpose vehicle bodies and superstructures
- Construction machinery
- Agricultural machinery
Retractable Roof
The movable roof section travels along guides positioned along the booth. In the open position it provides direct access to the working area from above. Once the product has been positioned inside, the roof closes and seals around the perimeter, allowing the painting or drying cycle to begin.
- Vertical crane loading of large and heavy components
- No large manoeuvring area required in front of the booth
- No transfer trolleys or rail systems required
- More efficient use of production floor space
Ventilation and Filtration
Filtered and heated air is supplied to the working area through a ceiling filtration system. The airflow passes through the booth, capturing paint overspray and vapours before passing through the end filtration wall and being removed by the exhaust ventilation system.
A positive pressure of 20–80 Pa is maintained inside the working area to reduce the ingress of dust from the surrounding production environment onto freshly painted surfaces. Pressure is controlled by variable-frequency drives and monitored by the operator from the control panel.
Filtration System
- Supply-air pre-filtration
- Ceiling fine filtration
- Fiberglass paint-overspray filtration
- Cardboard labyrinth filter in the exhaust system
Operating Modes
- Painting: filtered fresh air continuously passes through the working area and is fully renewed
- Purge: the booth is ventilated after paint application to remove solvent vapours and residual overspray
- Drying: air is heated to the preset temperature and partially recirculated inside the booth to reduce energy consumption
- Cooling: heating and recirculation are switched off while fresh air cools the product and working area
The maximum drying temperature is up to 60 °C. The drying timer starts only after the preset booth temperature has been reached.
Standard Equipment
- Steel-frame booth with sandwich panels filled with non-combustible mineral wool
- Retractable roof section with guides, drive system and perimeter sealing
- Thermo-ventilation system with indirect-fired heat exchanger
- Automatic supply, exhaust and recirculation dampers
- Ceiling and exhaust filtration systems
- Sealed industrial lighting for the working area
- Automatic control system for painting and drying modes
- Variable-frequency control of ventilation and positive pressure
Safety
- Booth construction made from non-combustible materials
- Compressed-air supply to spraying equipment is automatically disabled if ventilation stops
- Dual overtemperature protection for the heating system
- Equipment start-up is prevented if pneumatic pressure is insufficient
- Minimum operating pneumatic pressure: 4 bar
Custom Configuration
TWEKO RKFS series booths are manufactured according to individual customer requirements. Working area dimensions, retractable roof size and travel direction, door position, heating system and utility connections can be adapted to the application. An optional system for detecting potentially explosive concentrations of paint mist can also be integrated.
