The drawing machine is a metal cutting machine that allows you to make high-precision V- and U-shaped cuts with a depth of 2, 3 or 5 mm on samples measuring 55 x 10 x 10 mm.
At the end of the cycle, if necessary and in accordance with the requirements of the standards, the machined samples have sharp or rounded notches necessary to break them correctly for the purpose of determining the KCU or KCV impact toughness as prescribed by the applicable Charpy impact bending test standards.
The machine must be equipped with a broach with calibrating teeth on the sides for removing the cut material (chips) of the sample.
Thus, a hydraulic unit located above the traverse acts on the broach by pressing on it vertically from top to bottom, while the sample is held in a stationary position by a vice at the base of the equipment and is cut.
Depending on the type of broaching used, U- or V-shaped notches can be made to different depths (from 2 to 5 mm), in accordance with the requirements of the applicable standards.
