The computerized pendulum tester is designed for impact strength testing especially for samples with high energy capacity for high-strength steels and composite materials. Tests are carried out at room temperature or at temperatures of -20, -30, -40 °C and more (the latter is characteristic of steel products, which in real conditions will be exposed to temperatures below zero, which causes the possibility of brittle fractures). In addition to the value of impact viscosity, examination of the sample after destruction allows to determine some other properties of the material – for example, expansion in the transverse direction. A touch screen PC connected to the angle sensor of the rotary encoder inside the hinge registers the angle of lift of the striker, which allows the load to be displayed. A mechanical lever with an automatic locking system ensures that the striker is raised and returned to its initial position, thus quickly preparing the machine for the next test.
The procedure for calibrating the friction calculation according to the ASTM standard is performed automatically.
