The TWEKO KT-5M bucket elevator is a continuous conveying system designed for vertical transportation of bulk and abrasive materials. It is used as one of the main components of the abrasive recovery and reclamation system in KASO abrasive blasting chambers and can also be integrated into other process lines requiring vertical handling of bulk material.
The KT-5M is specifically designed for abrasive materials, including cast and cut steel shot, aluminium oxide, glass beads, carbides and other compatible bulk media.
Operating Principle
Abrasive enters the lower section of the elevator and is loaded into buckets mounted on a continuous conveyor belt. As the belt moves, the buckets carry the material vertically to the upper section of the machine.
At the upper pulley, the buckets change direction and discharge the material into a transfer chute, from where it is directed to the next process component, such as an abrasive separator.
Application in KASO Chambers
Within a KASO abrasive blasting chamber, the bucket elevator forms part of the closed-loop abrasive recovery system. Material collected from the chamber floor is transferred to the KT-5M, which elevates it to the separation system.
- Receiving abrasive from the recovery system
- Vertical transportation of abrasive media
- Feeding material to the separator
- Continuous operation within the reclamation system
- Automatic return of abrasive into the process cycle
Construction
The KT-5M housing is manufactured from carbon steel and features a sectional design. The elevator consists of a lower base section, an upper discharge section and the required number of intermediate sections forming the vertical conveying path.
- Carbon-steel housing
- Lower loading section
- Upper discharge section
- Intermediate housing sections
- High-strength conveyor belt
- Material buckets
- Upper and lower pulleys
- Geared-motor drive
Traction System
The conveying system is based on a high-strength belt fitted with buckets. The belt runs around upper and lower pulleys and is continuously driven by a geared motor.
Bucket geometry, belt speed, pulley dimensions and the design of the loading and discharge sections are selected to provide stable material loading, vertical conveying and reliable discharge.
Suitable Materials
- Cast steel shot
- Cut steel shot
- Aluminium oxide
- Glass beads
- Carbide abrasives
- Slag and other compatible bulk materials
Main Benefits
- Continuous operation: constant vertical transfer of material within the process cycle
- Abrasive-media handling: designed for shot and other abrasive materials
- Modular construction: sectional design allows the required conveying height to be configured
- Automation: integration into abrasive recovery and reclamation systems
- Reliable drive: conveyor belt driven by a geared motor
- Stable discharge: upper-section geometry directs material to the next process component
Industrial Applications
Bucket elevators of this type can be used for vertical transportation of compatible bulk materials in various industrial sectors:
- Metalworking and abrasive blasting
- Metallurgical industry
- Construction-material production
- Glass and ceramics production
- Chemical industry
- Mining industry
- Agro-industrial production
The TWEKO KT-5M bucket elevator is an important component of an automated abrasive reclamation system. It provides continuous vertical transfer of material between process units and helps create a closed-loop abrasive-handling process without manual transportation.
