The sample poured into the graphite crucible will be fused in the electrode furnace. Nitrogen and hydrogen gases are released from the carrier gas sample, and oxygen reacts with carbon in the graphite crucible to form CO. Then CO is oxidized to CO2.
Analytical gas is then directed to a thermal conductivity cell for nitrogen and hydrogen determination and then to an infrared cell for oxygen determination. Based on the received data from the detectors, the PC calculates the concentrations of oxygen, nitrogen and hydrogen.
