Setting up and checking the functionality of the equipment
The TOC-L series of analyzers implements the method of thermocatalytic oxidation developed by Shimazu at 680 ℃. Unlike the catalytic systems that were initially used in similar analyzers operating at a temperature of 900 ℃, in the oxidation process at a temperature of 680 ℃, the formation of a vitreous precipitate of salts on the surface of the catalyst does not occur. Under these temperature conditions, the salts form a porous precipitate that is easily washed off the catalyst. At the same time, this temperature is quite sufficient to ensure the oxidation of any organic molecules. This allows quick and accurate determination of the total content of organic compounds in water in a wide range of carbon concentrations from 4 μg/l to 30,000 mg/l. Thus, with the help of TOC-L series analyzers, it is possible to effectively analyze samples with different degrees of contamination, starting from ultrapure water, then – washing during the cleaning of technological equipment, and finally, wastewater highly contaminated with organic compounds.
